Alexander Zhukov

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, in the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; President of the All-Russian Union of Public Associations “Russian Olympic Committee” (ROC); Chairman of the Advisory Board for ANO "Organizing Committee "Sochi 2014"

Born June 1, 1956 in Moscow. In 1978 graduated from Economics Department of the Lomonosov Moscow State University with the Degree in Economics-and-Mathematics.  Subsequently studied at the Higher Economic Courses of the USSR State Planning Committee. In 1991 obtained Harvard University Diploma.  Specialist  in the fields  of currency, fiscal and customs legislation.
 
From 1978 worked at the All-Union Research Institute of systemic research of the USSR Academy of Sciences. From 1980 to 1991 – employee of the Head Currency-and-Economics Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Finance. From 1986 to 1989 – deputy to the Baumansky District Council of People’s Deputies. From 1991 to 1993 – Vice-President of the foreign economic JSC «AvtoTractoroExport».

From 1994 to 1995 – Deputy to the Russian Federation State Duma of the first convocation, member of the Committee on Budget, Taxes, Banks and Finance, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Currency Regulation, Foreign Debt, Precious Metals and Stones.
From 1996 to 1999 – Deputy to the Russian Federation State Duma of the second convocation, Deputy-Chairman, Acting Chairman, Chairman of the Committee on Budget, Taxes, Banks and Finance.

From 2000 to 2003 - Deputy to the Russian Federation State Duma of the third convocation, Chairman of the Committee on Taxes, member of the Commission on the State Debt and Foreign Assets of Russia, Co-Chairman of the Commission foe Examining Federal Budget Expenditures aimed at ensuring defense and State security of the Russian Federation.
From December 2003 to March 2004 - Deputy to the Russian Federation State Duma of the fourth convocation. First Deputy-Chairman of the State Duma.

From 1998 to 2003 was: a member of the Sberbank supervisory council, a member of ARCO Board of Directors, a member of the Economy Council under the Russian Federation’s Government, a member of the National Banking Council of the RF Central Bank.

On March 9, 2004 appointed a Vice-Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
In May of 2010 he was elected the President of the Russian Olympic Committee.

Awarded with the Order of Honor, has praise mentions from the President of the Russian Federation. Has fluent command of English. Married, has a son.
