Mayor of Sochi

Anatoly Pakhomov was elected Mayor of Sochi in April 2009. Before his election by the people of Sochi, he was Acting Mayor from January 2009.

Prior to taking up these roles in Sochi, Mr Pakhamov was Deputy Mayor then Mayor of the Black Sea resort city of Anapa for more than three years.

From 2004 to 2005, Mr Pakhomov led development of complex resorts and tourism for the Krasnodar Regional Administration. Between 1997 and 2004, he undertook a number of senior roles in the Krasnodar Region.

Mr. Pakhomov graduated from the Kuban Institute as a mechanical engineer in 1983, and has two PhDs. He is a Professor of the Kuban University of Technology where he lectures in management, and has been awarded the Order of Honor by the government of Russia.

Born on 2 September 1960 in Novoarkhangelsk in the Krasnodar Region, Mr Pakhomov is married with a son and a daughter.
