Management

Our team consists of people who are united by a single vision. They are not only experts at solving very difficult problems in the shortest amount of time, but they also truly believe in the Olympic values.

In order for the Games to become a success, several thousand projects will need to be delivered. Once those projects have been implemented, their results will determine how the rest of the world perceives the Sochi 2014 Games. It is precisely for this reason that the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee adopted a project-oriented structure.

There are nine separate departments within the Organizing Committee.

  • Dmitry Chernyshenko
    President, ANO "Organizing Committee "Sochi 2014"
    Dmitry Chernyshenko, a native of Sochi, is one of the leading Russian professionals in advertising and sports marketing. He also has extensive committee experience working with the Russian Ministry of Sports.

    In November 2005, he was appointed CEO of the Sochi 2014 Bid Committee. Mr. Chernyshenko began his career in advertising in 1989, establishing the agency that later developed into Media Arts Group. He is a graduate of the Moscow State Technological University and his interests include alpine skiing.
    On December 13th, 2007, Dmitry Chernyshenko was awarded with the Order of Honor for the successful victory of the Sochi 2014 Bid.

  • Tatiana Dobrokhvalova
    Senior Vice-President, ANO "Organizing Committee "Sochi 2014"
    Tatiana Dobrokhvalova is a graduate of the Moscow Institute for Economics and Statistics and the Moscow Academy for Economics and Law.

    From 2000-2005, Mrs. Dobrokhvalova was Director of Marketing Communications for Mobile TeleSystems, the largest mobile phone operator in Russia & CIS. She has worked previously as an expert in an Anglo-Russia joint venture and as a lawyer at an advertising agency.
    In 2006, Tatiana Dobrokhvalova got MBA.

    On December 13th, 2007, she was awarded with the Order of Friendship for the successful victory of the Sochi 2014 Bid. Tatiana Dobrokhvalova has a son and a daughter.

  • Igor Stolyarov
    Executive Vice-president. Marketing, Brand Management, Ticketing, Look of the Games, Licensing, Internet, Culture, Education
    After graduating from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Igor Stolyarov embarked on a career with the Coca-Cola Company, before becoming commercial director of Duracell (now part of the Gillette Group) in 1995. In 2000 he became Gillette’s international territorial director for the CIS and Baltic states, and in 2004 he oversaw the company’s projects in Melbourne.

    From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Stolyarov was sales and services vice-president, and business development vice-president for Russia’s largest mobile communication operator (MTS). In 2005 he was recognised by the National Managers Association as the country’s top Commercial Director, and in 2007 was given a special Russian Federal Government award for his role in founding the RosNanoTech State Corporation. Igor Stolyarov was born in 1969.

    • Marketing
      The function responsible for the search and selection of marketing partners, as well as overseeing transactions resulting from those relationships.  It also ensures provision of agreed services for marketing partners before and during the Games.
    • Brand Management
      The function responsible for the development of the visual Games brand, such as through setting graphical protocols and overseeing Games emblem and mascot development.
    • Ticketing
      The function responsible for the sale and distribution of tickets, as well as tasks including ticket design, pricing and management of the ticket distribution system.
    • Look of the Games
      The function responsible for the "look" of the Host City, region and Games facilities.
    • Licensing
      The functional area responsible for licensing, production of Olympic medals, stamps, for holding the Olympic lottery, as well as for the income that comes from the sale of products with Olympic symbols or those productes related to the Olympics.
    • Internet
      Strategic and operating planning for internet projects, development and support.
    • Culture
      The function responsible for all cultural events (such as festivals and forums) within the framework of Games preparations and delivery.
    • Education
      The function responsible for the development and implementation of the  Sochi 2014 education program, a key element of the Games' legacy.
  • Alexey Krasnov
    Executive Vice-president. Brand Protection, Finance, Legal, Procurement, Rate Card, Logistics, Administration and Office Management, Contingency, Ceremonies
    Alexey Krasnov was born and grew up in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan. In 1990, he graduated from the Academy of Security of the Federal Security Service as a system programmer and started professing.

    Alexey Krasnov was among co-founders of a computer graphics studio with Ilya Slutsky and Dmitry Chernyshenko. Later on in 1992, the studio was transformed into a Media Arts Group advertising agency where Alexey took a chair of the Executive Director. From 2002 till 2009 Alexey was a Senior Vice-president and Director General administrating company's operations.

    Along with strategic management of the Media Arts Group agency, Alexey was supervising business development of DTV-MA Production House and Sportima companies. There, he held a Presidential post as well as performing strategic management and advancing business relations with key accounts.

    Alexey took advanced training courses in advertising, finance and general management in Finland, Denmark, Belgium, the USA and Russia.

    • Ceremonies
      The function responsible for creation, planning and delivery of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games, as well as greeting ceremonies and events including the IOC Session Opening Ceremony and team welcome ceremonies.
    • Brand Protection
      The function responsible for the protection of the brand and its intellectual property. During the Games, it will monitor the use of Games visuals in sports and transport facilities.
    • Finance
      The function responsible for the development of the Organizing Commitee budget, as well as for finance-related documentation such as accounting records and financial statements.
    • Legal
      The function provides legal advice and support to the Organizing Committee across its full range of operations.
    • Procurement
      The function responsible for Organizing Committee procurement prior to and during the Games. This includes identifying procurement needs and developing agreement processes.
    • Rate Card
      The function responsible for tariff development, handling client orders and the return of goods following the Games.
    • Logistics
      The function responsible for logistics planning and implementation for the  Organizing Committee and client groups prior to and during the Games. Responsibilities include the selection of a partner to develop information systems for logistics management.
    • Administration and Office Management
      The function responsible for administrative activities including office supplies provision, correspondence management, document management, cleaning,  lease / sublease management, management of public services, the office warehouse, office transport and material resources.
    • Contingency
      The function responsible for processing requests for payments arising from unforeseen circumstances.
  • Alexey Khraban
    Branch Executive Director
    Alexey Khraban was born in 1975. In 2000, he graduated from the State Kuban University with a degree in history, sociology and foreign affairs. He worked for a series of commercial organizations until 2005, when he became Head of the Sochi Youth Committee, serving as an acting counselor for the Head of the city of Sochi for investment affairs. During Sochi’s bid to host the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Khraban was appointed to the position of Director for the Directorate of Sochi participation in the 2014 Winter Games. He also served on the Sochi 2014 Bid Committee as a Director responsible for relations between the Krasnodar Region and the city of Sochi administrations. From October 2006 to January 2008, Khraban was a Deputy Head of the city of Sochi for organizational matters regarding the 2014 Winter Games. Subsequently he was appointed Director of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee Representative Office in Sochi. In 2010, Alexey Khraban graduated from the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, specializing in State Municipal Administration. He is married and has two daughters and a son.
    • City Operations
      The function responsible for the planning and coordination of activities within the City of Sochi but outside of Games facilities. Role includes participation in the selection of sites for events, coordinating transport accessibility, and ensuring the availability of necessary infrastructure and services.
  • Denis Sekachev
    Executive Vice-president. Torch Relay, IOC/IPC Services, Protocol, Language Services, Accommodation, NOC/NPC Services
    Denis Sekachev was born in 1974 in Birobidzhan and graduated from the Moscow Military Institute of the Federal Boarder Guard Service of the Russian Federation in 1995. During his career he has held leading posts in the Russian Government — his responsibilities have included organizing large international socio-political events. He has also been involved in the preparations for the visits of numerous foreign heads of state to Russia and foreign visits by Russian officials.

    Mr. Sekachev possesses vast experience in international Government relations and has participated in organizing the Russian delegation?s visit to the 119th IOC Session, held in Guatemala in 2007 when Sochi was awarded the right to host the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. His hobbies are sport and keeping active. Denis is married, has a son and daughter.


    • IOC/IPC Services
      The function responsible for delivery and management of Olympic and Paralympic Family requirements during the Games. Its role ranges from implementing flag and national anthem protocols to ensuring the on-site requirements of individuals are met.
    • Protocol
      The function responsible for the provision of services for VIP Games guests.
    • Language Services
      The function responsible for written and oral translation and interpretation.
    • Accommodation
      The function responsible for the planning, preparation and provision of accommodation services prior to and during the Games. This includes bespoke services for different client groups such as Olympic and Paralympic Family hotel requirements.
    • NOC/NPC Services
      The function responsible for maintaining relationships with, and meeting the requirements of National Olympic Committees and National Paralympic Committees.
    • Torch Relay
      The function responsible for creation, planning and delivery of the Torch Relay Ceremony.
  • Sergey Bondarenko
    Executive Vice-president. Sport and IF Services, Venue Management, Village Management, Event Services

    Mr. Bondarenko was born in 1973 in the City of Krivoy Rog. In 1996 graduated from the Moscow State University of International Relations, in 2000 passed Ph.D. defense in economics.

    In the period from 1999 to 2005 he was holding different positions in JSC YUKOS RM, including General Director of JSC Voronezhnefteproduct, Director of Sales Development Department, First Deputy General Director of Trading Company YUKOS-M. From 2005 to 2008 in JSC Rosneft Mr. Bondarenko was Director of Operation and Development Department for Oilproductsupply Enterprises.

    From 2008 to 2010 Mr. Bondarenko was engaged in scientific activity, preparing his thesis for a Doctor's degree. From 2006 to 2009 he was an associate professor in the International Institute of Energy Policy and Diplomacy of the Moscow State University of International Relations under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 2002 Mr. Bondarenko has been an actual member of the Russian Academy of Business and Entrepreneurship. That same year he was awarded a title of Honored Industrialist of Russia.

    Mr. Bondarenko is married and has a daughter. In his leisure time he goes in for fitness, diving, travels.

    • Sport and IF Services
      The function responsible for the preparation and staging of sports competitions during the Games. It also services the requirements of International Federations before and during the Games.
    • Venue Management
      The function responsible for preparing and operating competition venues for test events and the Games. Responsibilities include client and customer service provision.
    • Village Management
      The function responsible for ensuring appropriate planning and development of the Olympic and Paralympic Village, ranging from accomodation and food to transport and accreditation services.
    • Event Services
      The function responsible for visitor services and relations during the Games. Its role includes running information kiosks and providing ad-hoc advice to visitors.
  • Alexandra Kosterina
    Vice-President. Communications
    In 2002 graduated from the Kuban State University with the degree in foreign languages. Until 2005 worked for a number of companies in Krasnodar region dealing with communications. In 2005 joined the international team of newly opened 24-hours news channel “RT”. Within 4 years Alexandra became one of the leading news correspondents, reporting on most pressing political issues and events. In July 2009 became the head of Communications Department with the State Corporation Olympstroy, responsible for construction of the Olympic venues in Sochi.
    • Communications
      Function responsible for maintaining communication with clients and stakeholders before and during the Games with the aim of managing the reputation of the Games and of the city of Sochi. Key activities include the development of a proactive communications plans and issues management processes.
  • Alexander Vronsky
    Executive Vice-president. Technology, Broadcasting, Medical, Accreditation, Press Operations
    Alexander Vronsky was born in 1968 in Moscow. He graduated from Moscow Suvorov Military School in 1985, and in 1990 completed his studies at the Higher Military Engineering School of Communications in Kiev before serving in the USSR Ministry of Defense 27th Central Scientific Institute.

    From 1992 to 1996, Mr. Vronsky gained a wealth of IT experience in diverse organizations. These included the Amirest company, the All-Russian Centre of Emergency Medicine at the Ministry of Emergencies, and IncomBank. In 1996 he was headhunted by Orange Business Services (France Telecom Group), where he occupied or co-occupied the positions of product and service development director, marketing and PR director and information systems director. He also project-managed the deploying of a network of intercity and international telephone communications, as well as developing the company’s regional structure.

    Since 2002, Mr Vronsky has been named among the Top 100 IT management professionals in Russia (as part of the Top 1000 Russian Managers selection chosen by Kommersant and the Russian Managers Association).

    Mr. Vronsky is married and has two children. He is fond of scuba diving, motorsports, downhill skiing, sports shooting and contact karate.

    • Technology
      The function responsible for technological aspects of the Games, including systems integration.
    • Broadcasting
      The function responsible for TV and radio broadcast client services during the Games, including providing the required infrastructure and facilities.
    • Medical
      The function responsible for:
      1. Provision of all Games-related medical care
      2. The full implementation of doping control systems
    • Accreditation
      The function responsible for the planning, design and preparation of a system of accreditation, and delivering accreditation-related services for clients during the Games.
    • Press Operations
      The function responsible for delivering services to the press and photographers. Its role also includes management of the Olympic and Paralypmic news services and Media Center.
  • Sergey Sukhanov
    Executive Vice-president. Arrivals and Departures, Construction coordination and Overlay, Cleaning and Waste, Venue Facility Management, Food and Beverage Services, Signage, Transport
    Sergey Sukhanov graduated in 1985 from Moscow’s Plekhanov Institute of National Economy. He started his career in the city of Dubna (part of the Moscow region) where he was a procurement inspector with the United Institute of Nuclear Studies.

    Mr Sukhanov moved to Sochi in 1986, and in 2001 was appointed deputy head of administration for the city’s Hosta district. In 2004, he was appointed vice-mayor of the city of Sochi for economics, forecast, entrepreneurial activity, agricultural industry, the consumer market and investment services. In 2006 Mr. Sukhanov became Sochi city’s vice-mayor for Olympic preparation, and the same year was also appointed first deputy general director of the Unified Directorate of the Federal Target Program for Developing the City of Sochi as a Mountain Climate Resort, 2006-2014’ (a Federal State Entity).

    Sergey Sukhanov was born in 1962 in the city of Uralsk in Kazakhstan. He is married and has a daughter.

    • Construction coordination and Overlay
      Function responsible for coordinating construction design and planning, reporting on progress and ensuring readiness for use of Olympic facilities.
    • Venue Facility Management
      The function responsible for maintaining venues infrastructure before and during the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
    • Signage
      The function responsible for the design, coordination of production and installation of information signage around the Host City, Olympic village, Games venues, travel hubs and other important locations.
    • Transport
      The function responsible for providing transportation services for clients before and during the Games, as well as for coordinating Games-related transport services with external parties.
    • Arrivals and Departures
      The function responsible for providing a range of services related to arrivals and departures, such as assistance with air, rail and water transport.
  • German Novikov
    Vice-President. Security
    German Novikov is a graduate of both the Far-Eastern High Nautical School for engineers and the Far-Eastern State Academy in economics and management. In 2002, he obtained a post-graduate degree in economic science from the Economic Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. German is now working towards the title of Doctor of Science. He has gained substantial experience in areas as diverse as banking, nautical navigation, and managing major international forums. Born in 1962 in the city of Vladivostok, German is a fan of oriental martial arts and yachting. He is married and has two children.
    • Security
      The function responsible for security planning and implementation, as well as for coordinating internal and external departments for Games-related security.
  • Grigory Kocharov
    Executive Vice-president. Command, control and coordination, Test Events Management, Planning and Coordination, Knowledge Management, Risk Management, Sustainability, Paralympic Integration, Ecology
    Born in 1961 in Baku, Azerbaijan SSR, Grigory Kocharov graduated from the Technical Cybernetics Department of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1984. He then worked for the Nord NGO, before fulfilling a number of roles at Schlumberger between 1994 and 2000. Between 2001 and 2009 he worked for IBS as Managing Director of its Fuel and Energy function, and then as a board member overseeing the implementation of business applications and the company’s work with OAO Gazprom.
    • Command, control and coordination
      Functional area, supporting the Games Management System creation, implementation and operation.
    • Test Events Management
      The function responsible for planning and conducting test events prior to the Games.
    • Planning and Coordination
      The function responsible for planning, monitoring and coordinating the activities of all areas of the Organizing Committee in preparation for the Games.
    • Knowledge Management
      The function responsible for the accumulation, storage, analysis and  transfer (both within and outside of the Organizing Committee) of knowledge obtained during the preparation and staging of the Games. It will deliver the Sochi 2014 Observer Program, OGKM seminars and other important events and services.
    • Risk Management
      The function responsible for the assessment and minimization of risk as well as incident management during the Games.
    • Sustainability
      The function responsible for developing sustainable development concepts for implementation in Sochi, the Krasnodar region and Russia. Responsibilities include certain measurements within the Olympic Games Impact (OGI) initiative.
    • Paralympic Integration
      The function responsible for ensuring the effective integration of all Paralympic Games Organizing Committee departments and their activities for a successful event.
    • Environment
      The function responsible for ensuring an integrated approach to implementing the Sochi 2014 Environment Program, which seeks to maintain and enhance the unique natural environment of Sochi.
    • Cleaning and Waste
      The function responsible for the upkeep and cleaning of Games facilities. Role ranges from clearing snow and litter to recycling waste.
    • Food and Beverage Services
      The function responsible for planning, preparation and provision of food services to client groups during the Games.
  • Marina Pochinok (Pakhomkina)
    Workforce Director. Human Resources, Contractors, Suppliers, Uniform, Volunteers Management
    Marina Pochinok (Pakhomkina) joined Sochi 2014 from TNK-BP where she had been Corporate Learning Director since 2004. In this role she was accountable for the design and implementation of TNK-BP’s individual and organizational development programs. In 2007 she was ranked in the top three Russian learning and development experts. From 2000, Mrs. Pochinok led the Human Resources function at Philips with a period, during 2003, in charge of international projects at the head office in the Netherlands. Whilst at Philips she was rated one of the top 20 HR managers in Russia. She began her career in the IT industry specializing in sales and marketing and has worked in the HR industry since 1996. Mrs. Pochinok is a graduate of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Moscow State University with diploma with honors. Ph.D. She is a Certified Professional in Human Resources and completed education at the world leading INSEAD business school. She is currently a professor of Human Resources Management at the Russian Government’s Academy of National Economy. Mrs. Pochinok was appointed to the judging panel of “People Investor 2008”, is a member of the National HR league and was awarded the medal for “Services to Science, Culture and Education in Russia” by the national organization Integration. She is married with a son and daughter and enjoys yoga, downhill skiing.
    • Human Resources
      The function responsible for the recruitment, retention and professional development of staff across all departments of the Organizing Committee, as well as planning for staff numbers planning, rewards and benefits.
    • Contractors, Suppliers, Uniform
      The function responsible for managing and coordinating the work carried out by outsourced staff and service providers before and during the Games.
    • Volunteers Management
      The function responsible for planning, implementing and managing all volunteer activities. This includes ascertaining volunteer requirements in different areas, recruitment, training, task assignment and document processing.
  • Dmitriy Godunov
    Vice President

    Born in 1968 in Moscow. Graduated from the technical faculty of the FSB Academy in 1990. Was awarded a second degree from Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics, specializing in "finance and credit", in 2001. Graduated from Warwick Business School (The University of Warwick, England) in 2010.

    Worked as production director at the pharmaceuticals company "Veropharm" from 1997 to 2004. Took up the position of COO (Chief Operating Officer) at the Management Company "Pharmacy Chain 36.6", in 2004.. Became first deputy to the Director General of Management Company "Pharmacy Chain 36.6", in 2006. Dmitry has worked at the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee since 2009.

    He is married, with two daughters.

    His hobbies include alpine skiing, photography and sailing.
