Speed skater Ivan Skobrev is an Honoured Master of Sports, Russian and World Champion in classical allround events and was an Olympic Winter Games silver medalist in Vancouver.

Ivan was born in Khabarovsk on February 8th 1983 into a sporting family, with his parents Irina and Alexander, USSR Masters of Sports.

The future World Champion graduated from the Olympic reserve college in Saint Petersburg and achieved his first victories as a teenager. Ivan became Russian Champion and a World Championship silver medalist when competition in the junior competitions.

Ivan achieved huge success at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games when, despite a serious shoulder injury and seemingly invincible rivals, he won the bronze medal - Russia’s first medal of the Games - in the 5 000 m. Ivan later won a silver medal in the 10 000 m.

On 5th March 2010, Ivan Skobrev was honored with the Medal of the Order for “Services to Russia” and his major contribution to sports development and significant sporting achievements at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.”

Ivan won a gold medal in the classical allround event at the World Championship in Calgary, Canada. He also was a winner at the European Championship in Collalbo, Italy, and won two bronze medals in at the World Championship in Inzell.
