Kozak on volunteers

Staging the Olympic Games without volunteers would be unthinkable. I am pleased to see that a burning heart was chosen to symbolize the volunteer campaign. It represents the mood and spirit of those taking part in the movement. I am convinced that all large-scale events of this nature should include volunteers. In places with a long tradition of volunteering, people of all ages get actively involved. The last Olympics in Vancouver were a prime example. They comprised of large numbers of older people, including elderly pensioners, who were willing to help stage a public event, regardless of the scale of the project.

Plushenko about Sochi Games

I want to show everyone, by my skating, that I can still perform, even after winning the Olympic Games. I can't say where I will finish at my fourth Olympics, but for me, taking part in the Games in Sochi will be a victory in itself.

Kozak on volunteers

The impetus which the Olympic Games has given to the Volunteer Movement in our country will be even more important than the Olympics itself for forming civil society and for Russia’s social and political development. There are already Volunteer Centres in 26 Russian regions and we believe they are extremely important.

Dmitry Kozak on Private Investors

“This year we will prepare all the Mountain Cluster venues for staging sports competitions. Next year starting from May and till September, all the arenas except for the Central Stadium must be completed. After that there will test events held of even higher level – these ones in the Mountain cluster for all the sports including ski jumping. We are definitely planning to accomplish all the above-said and we are confident that all of that will be completed on time. There haven’t been any critical suggestions concerning cost increase on projects invested in by private sponsors. Suggestions have been put forward on supplementary financing and support on behalf of the state, such as the subsidizing of interest rates on credit or acquiring shares in private companies’ charter capital. This is under consideration at present but there are no serious financial consequences for the state as far as these projects are concerned. It may be that for some of the most topical projects there will be decisions made on either fractional easing of interest rates upon them or their being subsidized out of the state budget funds. But these will be minimal, insignificant expenditures of taxpayers’ money”.

Yuri Simonov

According to some reputable researchers, the Holy Mount Olympus, if at all it could be associated with any terrestrial mountain, belongs somewhere to the Caucasus Mountains. It follows that for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games the Olympionics in Sochi will be hot on the heels of the hosts of the Olympic Mystery.

Tatyana Navka

It is an honour for me to be offered the privilege to become a Sochi 2014 Ambassador. Within my new role I will be putting effort into ensuring that the revival of sport in Russia, supported by The Sochi 2014 Winter Games, will help the nation to engage in sport. I will be paying particular focus to poor children from across the regions as I know that there are real little stars amongst them, who should be given the opportunity to shine!

Alexander Kiselev on Olympic stamps

With postage stamps and envelopes being dispersed worldwide, we believe it is one of the best ways to commemorate the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. They will become a “business card” to remember the Games and will contribute to promoting Russia and its sporting traditions.

Kozak on Sochi

The Sochi Games have already become a model for other major Russian infrastructural projects and a sample for applying some most advanced practices in various regions of our country. The Government's mission is to make such major events attractive for business and investors and to maximize their legacy impact not only on this or that particular city or region but on the country at large.

Killy on 2014 Games

We have been very impressed with the way the organizers have proactively reached out to people in every corner of the country to make them feel part of the Sochi Games. The 2014 fan club is now well and truly in place across this great nation.

Killy_IOC_visit

We’ve had a very productive two days here in Sochi and have seen continued progress in the development of the sporting venues both in the coastal cluster and in the mountains. I am confident that the world’s winter athletes will be impressed when they arrive in Sochi for the up-coming sports events and the Games in 2014. Our visit also intended to focus on hotel construction and operational planning. Although a lot remains to be done in this area which had been identified as an area of focus by the Coordination Commission, we are confident that Sochi 2014 and its partners are on track to deliver their commitments. The entire Sochi 2014 team deserves great praise for their achievements over the past six months.
