Today has become yet another triumph for the Russian team at the Paralympic Games in Vancouver.
Throughout this day of competitions, the Russian athletes won 8 more medals.
Three Russian athletes stood on the Paralympic pedestal after having completed the Men’s 12.5 km Biathlon competition: Irek Zaripov, Vladimir Kiselev and Roman Petushkov.
Irek Zaripov has already become a three-time champion of the Games while Roman Petushkov is now a two-time medalist of Vancouver.
Another medal was brought to the Russian team in the Men’s 12.5 km Biathlon individual event by Nikolay Polukhin – already a three-time silver medalist of the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games among visually impaired athletes. Earlier, he won silver in the 20 km Free Cross Country Skiing event and in the 3 km Biathlon Pursuit.
The gold medal in the Women’s 10 km Biathlon event among athletes with a locomotor apparatus injury belongs to Maria Iovleva, who is already a silver medalist in the Vancouver Games’ 2.4 km Biathlon Pursuit .
Two-time Vancouver Games champion Anna Burmistrova won her third Paralympic medal- silver in the 12.5 km Biathlon Individual event among athletes with a physical disability.
Liubov Vasilyeva and Mikhalina Lysova won silver and bronze, respectively, in the Women’s 12.5 km Biathlon Individual event among visually impaired athletes. Liubov Vasilyeva became a three-time silver medalist of the Games, while Mikhalina Lysova won her second Vancouver bronze medal.
