The United States has competed in every edition of the Paralympic Winter Games, winning medals in every one apart from the first Games in Ornskoldsvik in 1976. Their most successful Games came in 1994 in Lillehammer, where they won 24 gold, 12 silver, and seven bronze medals.
Alpine skier Sarah Will is the most successful Paralympian in USA's history. She won 12 gold and one silver medal between 1992 and 2002.
In 2010 in Vancouver, they won four gold medals - equalling their lowest tally at any Games- including defeating Japan in the final of the ice sledge hockey tournament.
