On 16 March 2014 a theater production will take place called ‘White Stick - Paralympic Games’ in Sochi. The show will showcase highlights of the White Stick international charity festival over the last four years. It will culminate in a performance by legendary Spanish tenor José Carreras, who is travelling to Sochi especially for taking part in Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games events.
The White Stick festival is a unique art project created and managed by Sochi 2014 Ambassador and Honored Artist of Russia, Diana Gurtskaya in partnership with her charity foundation for visually impaired children, "On Call of Heart". The charity helps raise awareness and support visually impaired children.
This year the following people will take part in the festival: Sochi 2014 Ambassadors Diana Gurtskaya and Dima Bilan; Soso Pavliashvili; Alexander Oleshko; Mark Tishman; Zara and A-Studio amongst others. In addition, joint performances with popular Russian and international theater actors and pop artists will take place with music students from specialized educational institutions of Russia and CIS. The performances will be based on personal stories of these young artists. The opportunity to duet with well-known stars has been a highlight for these children and young adults.
Each festival had a different theme: in 2010 it was classical music, in 2011 - the cultural heritage of the CIS countries, in 2012 – inclusive theater and cinema and in 2013 - upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi.
Every year, the Festival took place in the frames of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad.
