Yamaha Motor CIS has become an Official Supplier of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in the "Utility Vehicle for Venues" category. The announcement was made during the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum. The agreement was signed by Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, and Toshiya Kawano, President of the Yamaha Motor CIS Company. According to the agreement, Yamaha Motor CIS will provide more than 320 vehicles for the Sochi Olympic Games, including snowmobiles, ATVs (four-wheelers), and golf cars.
At the Sochi Games Yamaha snowmobiles will be used at the Mountain Cluster venues to transport technicians and athletes, whilst ATVs (four-wheelers) will be used on rugged terrain. The golf cars will be driven along paved and dirt roads with the maximum speed of 25 km an hour. The golf carts will come in different models and some of them have been specially designed for people with disabilities.
President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko noted:

Yamaha is a leader of the Russian recreational vehicles market and offers a wide range of products for sports, active recreation, and work. Yamaha vehicles will allow holding the Games at high speeds and adding even more Olympic drive to the event.
Toshiya Kawano, President of Yamaha Motor CIS, marked:

For reference, the total sum is over one and a half times more than the Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee earned during its lifespan as an OCOG. The investment raised marks the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee as the most successful Winter Games Organizing Committee in the history of the Olympic Movement.
As enshrined in the "Olympic law" of the Russian Federation (Federal Law No. 310-ФЗ dated 01.12.2007), "the right to the use the Russian Olympic and Paralympic marks can only be obtained by the exclusive TOP Partners of the IOC and the IPC, the Sochi 2014 National Partners at all levels, as well as companies that have entered into the appropriate license agreement with the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee.
IOC TOP Partners are companies that have entered into an agreement with the IOC for several four-year cycles. In addition, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee offers several levels of partnership in the Sochi 2014 Marketing Program, concluding agreements with Partners for the right to be associated with the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi in Russia.
