Procter & Gamble, a Worldwide Olympic Partner, welcomed International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach and Sochi Olympic Organizing Committee (SOCOG) President Dmitry Chernyshenko to the P&G Family Home today to say, Thank You Mom, to a crowd of amazing moms of Russian Olympians.
“I could tell you many stories now on how much P&G supports the International Olympic Committee, the Organizing Committee and the Olympic Games, but allow me just to speak from my heart, because this program I think is one of the most emotional programs in support of athletes and the Olympic movement,” said President Bach. “Therefore we are sharing with P&G not only a partnership, we are also sharing values. The IOC is supporting the athletes in many ways – with financial means, with the education of coaches, with equipment, with events - you name it. But P&G is supporting the athletes in the emotional way. And as an athlete I know, in order to be successful, in order to feel well, you need both. You need the hardware support, and you need the software support. I would like to thank P&G to take responsibility for this software support of so many athletes around the world”.
The P&G Family Home in Sochi is the home away from home for moms of Olympians and families from all over the world. Brands including Pantene®, Gillette®, Bounty® and Olay® are supporting moms and families with services that make an extraordinary difference when far from home. More than 1,200 hours of beauty and grooming treatments will be provided to guests of the Home.
SOCOG President Dmitry Chernyshenko added, “We partner with P&G for 4 years and have very close and almost family relationship, because they know one very important secret – how to support our athletes. Because there is no bigger supporting power than power of your family. We are proud that in our big Olympic family there is such partner as P&G with impressive brand portfolio that make our life better, cleaner and more beautiful.”
President Bach and President Chernyshenko visited the P&G Family Home during a special ceremony celebrating Russia, its athletes and their moms. The event was attended by Olympic medalist in ice dancing, Oksana Domnina and double Olympic medalist Ivan Skobrev, speed skater.
“We see our Olympic Games sponsorship through a special lens,” said Phil Duncan, P&G Global Design Officer. “When a P&G brand sponsors an athlete we also celebrate their mom, because behind every athlete is an even more amazing mom. That’s why the focus of our Thank You Mom program comes to life through the P&G Family Home where we provide the comforts of home to moms and families.”
