The keys to the Olympic vehicle fleet have been handed to the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee during an official Handover Ceremony held at the XII International Investment Forum in Sochi. The keys were presented by VOLKSWAGEN Group Russia, the General Partner of the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. For Games, the company will provide over 3,000 cars including Volkswagen, Audi, ŠKODA and Volkswagen Commercial vehicles that will be used to transport athletes, International Olympic Committee (IOC) and National Olympic Committee (NOC) members, Sports Federation staff and media representatives.
All Volkswagen Group RUS cars of the vehicle fleet are branded with official Sochi 2014 look of the Games. All the vehicles in the Sochi 2014 fleet meet "Euro-4" or "Euro-5" international ecostandards, above the "Euro-3" standard currently adopted in Russia. The fleet will include vehicles with diesel and gas engines, which will also help minimize the environmental impact of the fleet.
The Sochi 2014 fleet will include sedans, hatchbacks, cross country station wagons, as well as motor vehicles used for group transportation. A back-up fleet is also provided in the event of breakdown of the main vehicles.
In addition, Sochi 2014 Partners, media personnel, broadcasters, and NOC representatives will be able to rent vehicles from the dedicated "VOLKSWAGEN Group Russia car park, providing over 500 Volkswagen and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand cars for rental.

We are especially proud of the fact that a significant number of these modern, environmentally-friendly cars are made here in Russia."
The President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Dmitry Chernyshenko, emphasized:

With a total investment of more than one billion euros, the company has become one of the largest investors in the Russian automotive industry. In 2013-2015, the concern will invest another 840 million euros in its plants, new equipment and new products in Russia.
In 2009, "VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus" became a General Partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 in the city of Sochi in the "Vehicles" category.
