The Sochi 2014 Games have received unprecedented support from marketing partners and licensees. The Sochi 2014 Marketing and Licensing Program has received support from leading international and Russian companies. In total, revenue from the Sochi 2014 Marketing Program has exceeded $1.3 billion, three times more than revenue generated from the Bid Book obligations. Licensees for the Games issued about 5,000 souvenir items with Sochi 2014 symbols, while sales of official Sochi 2014 products may reach $500 million. The retail program has become the largest in the history of the Winter Games, and there are already 4,500 official retail outlets across Russia. In addition, the sale of Sochi 2014 plush souvenirs has broken records with over 3.6 million items sold.
Sochi 2014 Marketing Program
Through the collective efforts of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee and Sochi 2014 Partners, the Sochi 2014 Marketing Program has been deemed a success. Financial contributions, latest technologies and designs and the personal involvement of these companies have contributed to the success of Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Since the launch of the program in 2009, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee has attracted more than 1.3 billion dollars in financial investments, over 3 times the Bid Book commitment. This is 1.5 times greater than the earnings of the Vancouver Games Organizing Committee throughout its entire existence. As such, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee became the most successful Winter Games Organizing Committee in the history of the Olympic movement.
The right to use Olympic and Paralympic Marks in Russia was given to the TOP Partners of the IOC and IPC, the Sochi 2014 National Partners at all tiers, in addition to companies who have signed a corresponding licensing agreement with the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee. This regulatory provision is envisaged in the "Olympic Law" Code (Federal Law No. 310-ФЗ of 12/01/2007).
IOC TOP Partners are companies which have entered into an agreement with the IOC for several four-year cycles. Sochi 2014 Licensing Program
The Sochi 2014 Licensing Program was launched in 2009 and to date Games licensees have distributed 5,000 souvenirs and merchandise with the Sochi 2014 mark. Total sales of official Sochi 2014 merchandise can reach over $500 million. Direct revenue for the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee from Licensing Program sales have exceed $30 million. As part of the licensing program, 55 contracts have already been signed in categories such as apparel and footwear, sporting goods, house-hold goods, accessories, stationery, souvenirs, toys and many others.

The criteria for selecting official Sochi 2014 licensees were rigorous and ensured licensees were selling merchandise at affordable prices. Sochi 2014 licensees were selected via a competition, held in accordance with the standard procedure for selecting licensees. The winner was chosen based on the assessment of the proposals for licensed products.
Official Sochi 2014 licensees acquire the rights to the production and sale of merchandise bearing the marks of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 in the City of Sochi, including the Sochi 2014 and ROC logos, as well as images of the mascots, pictograms, etc. The right to use Sochi 2014 trademarks was granted to companies that won the competition on a commercial basis. Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee licensees pay a license fee that includes a fixed and percentage part (royalties). The royalty rate depends of the product category and can be up to 20%.
The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee supports native Handicrafts produced by the peoples of Russia and has launched a whole series of hand-crafted arts and crafts with the Games marks. Products with original designs that showcase Russian went on sale in 2011.
Sochi 2014 retail sales program
A main objective of the retail sales program is to distribute licensed merchandise across Russia and ensure everyone can purchase a part of Olympic history.
The efficient organization of the sale of licensed merchandise during the preparation and staging of the Games on the territory of the Russian Federation is provided through official retail sales operators, the distribution networks of the licensees, offices of the Games marketing partners and the official online - shop.
In mid-December 2011, the Sochi 2014 official online shop was launched. (http://shop.sochi2014.com/ru/). – This quickly became the most innovative in the history of the Olympic Movement in terms of functionality and the level of service provided. The store is open 24 hours 7 days a week, where customers can select products using a maximum number of 15 options, which is the record for the online – shop and order confirmation is done within 15 minutes. General Partner of the Sochi 2014 Games, “Megafon”, became the official operator of the Sochi 2014 licensed merchandise online - shop.
The official retail operators of Sochi 2014 are leaders in the sports goods, children's goods and automated trading (vending machines), ООО Sportmaster, ООО TS Hypermarket Begemot and ООО Uvenco invest as well as the biggest player on the Russian food retail market, X5 Retail Group, and the General partner and licensee of the 2014 Games in Sochi, BOSCO.
It is now possible to buy Sochi 2014 licensed merchandise in more than 4,500 retail stores in all regions of Russia, due to Sochi 2014’s contracts with the official retail operators of the Games.
Based on the signed contracts, Sportmaster already opened over 340 shops in its hypermarkets all over the Russian Federation. Almost complete range of Sochi 2014 licensed merchandise is on the sales in mentioned above shops.
More than 800 shops of Sochi 2014 licensed merchandise have been opened in Begemot children's toys hypermarkets and Begemotik toy shops, located in 7 Federal regions in Russia.
Uvenco invest has organized the sales of Sochi 2014 licensed merchandise in over 115 vending machines in the offices of the 2014 Games marketing partners.
According to the contract signed by the official retail operator, X5 Retail Group has opened about 3.500 shops in Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, and Karusel retail food chains in 45 Federal regions of Russia, where of the official merchandise with the Sochi 2014 Olympic marks are on sale.
BOSCO has opened more than 30 Olympic Shops in Moscow and in Sochi all selling licensed Sochi 2014 merchandise.

Postage products have accompanied every modern Olympics Games since 1896. Postage stamps issued by the host country are a part of each Olympiad and, without a doubt, are the most valuable piece in stamp collections.
The Sochi 2014 Stamp Program began in 2011 with the launch of a postage stamp bearing the mark "Sochi - host city of the XXII Olympic Winter Games of 2014". The first stamps of the series "XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi were also released. In addition, stamp collections “Tourism on the Black Sea Coast of Russia" and "XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Olympic Winter Sports" were revealed. The total circulation of all stamps issued in 2011 was more than 10 million, while in 2012 this number reached approximately 12 million. Furthermore, for the first time in Russian history, as well as in the history of the Olympic Movement, postage stamps with a two-dimensional QR-code for recognition on mobile devices were released. The stamp features the image of the official logo of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and the two-dimensional QR-code with an encrypted link to www.sochi2014.com, where anyone interested can access it through a mobile device by downloading a special program.
The Sochi 2014 Coin Program continues a long tradition of issuing coins to celebrate the Olympic Games. The first Olympic coin dates to 510-500 BC. The first modern Olympic coin was issued at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki.
The Sochi 2014 Coin Program has become one of the largest in the history of the Olympic Movement and between 2011-2014 there will be 47 types of commemorative and investment coins made from gold, silver and copper-nickel metals, with a total circulation reaching more than 86.7 million coins.
The theme and design of the Sochi 2014 coins reflects not only the Olympic subjects but also Russian national characteristics as well as specific regions of the Games, particularly Sochi and its unique nature. Nine investment coins of the original rectangular shape with mascots of the Sochi Games will also be issued.
The Sochi 2014 Coin Program is being introduced in partnership with the Central Bank of the Russian Federation (issuer of the coins), the General Partners of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Sberbank of Russia (exclusive distributor of coins made of precious metals with the mark of the Games in Russia) and FSUE "Goznak" (mints coins for the Russian Federation).

With just 100 days to go before the start of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, commemorative 100 ruble banknote, 25 ruble coin depicting Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch and a postage block of devoted to the Sochi 2014 Torch Relay have been released into circulation. The banknote and coin, 20 million items each, are both released into free circulation, whilst the stamp is available in post offices across Russia. These items are a great addition to any collection and will serve as a fantastic reminder of the 2014 Games in Sochi.
Sochi 2014 licensing program gives special attention to companies that produce products with traditional Russian patterns. These products not only continue the theme of Russian folk traditions, but also fit perfectly in the philosophy of the Sochi 2014 brand, reflecting the Russian spirit's multi-faceted nature. All of the products are made by hand exclusively at domestic enterprises by Sochi 2014 licensees who won the bid in the "Folk Craft" category. These are leading companies in Russia's folk craft market - ZAO "Union Gzhel", ZАО "Khokhlomskaya Rospis" and ZAO "Aksinya" (Semikarakorsk ceramics).
The artists of ZAO "Union Gzhel" company, whose unique products have long been famous not only in Russia but internationally have developed a special line of products that combine the Sochi 2014 Games marks and the ethnic Gzhel design. These include cups, plates, platters, vases and dinner sets with Olympic and Paralympic logos. In all, 40 craftsmen of the business are working on making products with the marks of the Olympic Winter Games.
One of the internationally recognized symbol of Russia - the traditional Russian matryoshka from Semyonov town with a yellow scarf, red sun dress and flowers on her apron -, will no doubt be included in the "Olympic hits" made by the Khokhlomskaya Rospis Company. A one meter tall matryoshka with Olympic marks on it, dedicated to the future Games in Sochi became the symbol of the "Golden Khokhloma" annual festival in 2011.
