Japanese figure skater Mao Asada tested the ice for the first time at the Iceberg Skating Palace on Thursday where she hopes that she can turn her Olympic silver into gold in two weeks' time.
Asada was runner-up in Vancouver four years ago to South Korean rival Kim Yu-Na, and she will renew her rivalry with the reigning Olympic and world champion on February 19-20.
"Vancouver was my first Olympics and it was so amazing. I was very excited and also nervous.
"Here in Sochi I am much more relaxed and also calmer, which makes it easier for me to focus on my performance. I try to take it like every other competition."
