Australia's Daniel Greig hopes live TV coverage of his 500m and 1000m speed skating events will make him a star in his homeland, where cricket and rugby are king.
"My races are being shown live, which is amazing," said the 22-year-old, the only speed skater from Australia in Sochi.
"Most people don't even know what speed skating is," added Greig, who won a bronze medal at the world sprint championships in Nagano in January. "When I tell them what I do, they say 'Oh Steven Bradbury'."
Bradbury won short track gold at the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002.
