On May 31, the day before the federal anti-smoking law comes into force across Russia, the host city of the 2014 Winter Olympics marked the World No Tobacco Day. Olympic and Paralympic Games organizers traditionally play an active role in the fight against smoking.

On June 1, 2013, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee will complete the first phase of ticket sales for the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games. Over the course of the summer, spectator places within the stands will be automatically allocated.

Within the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad, Russian regions will take part in the "Museum Night - 2013" event to celebrate International Museum Day which traditionally takes place on May 18.

The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee has begun a series of Paralympic lessons taught by the Sochi 2014 "Our Champions" in schools in the cities across Russia. During the lessons, Paralympic athletes will not only tell children about their lives and achievements in sport, but also educate them about the upcoming Paralympic Games in Sochi, which are designed to be a catalyst for the social integration of people with disabilities.

As a part of the all-Russian "Bench of Peace" art project, in which well-known cultural and artistic figures paint street benches, the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad presented five benches decorated in the motif of the Sochi 2014 Winter Games.

The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee’s bid to protect licensed products with marks of the Winter Games in Sochi will be supported by major retailers operating in Russia.
