Sochi 2014 invites the public to an open discussion with ecologists18 January 2011
The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee is set to hold an open discussion about the environmental issues surrounding the preparations for the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Members of the general public will be permitted to attend, alongside environmental organisations, government agencies and responsible officials during the fourth visit to Russia of experts from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The discussions will take place between 19th - 23rd January 2011 as part of the environmental aspect of the preparations for the XXII Olympic Winter Games and the XI Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 in Sochi.

Russian sports leaders honored in “Golden 25 for 2011”11 January 2011
The President of the Russian Olympic Committee, Alexander Zhukov, and the President and CEO of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Dmitry Chernyshenko, have been named amongst the top 25 most influential figures in the Olympic movement according to a list compiled by the influential specialist Olympic publication, "Around the Rings”. They were ranked in 5th and 15th place respectively.
