Panorama, VGTRK and RBC TV channel to provide support for Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi
Three companies that will provide support and promotion for the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games were announced on September 23 in Moscow. ANO "Sports Broadcasting" (Panorama), the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) and RBC TV channel will all be part of the broadcast team taking the Paralympics into people’s homes around the globe.
General Director of Panorama Vasily Kiknadze and the president of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko signed an agreement granting Panorama the broadcasting rights to the Paralympic Winter Games, which will take place between the 7th and 16th March next year and feature five sports – alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ice sledge hockey and wheelchair curling. Under the agreement, Panorama will provide Olympic Broadcasting Services with technical support to produce the international television signal for the Games. It will give fans in Russia and all over the world an opportunity to witness a breathtaking sporting event that vividly demonstrates the range of human capabilities.
VGTRK, represented by Natalia Tolkacheva, deputy head of the company's legal and corporate governance department, signed a contract to make the company the official broadcaster of the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games. The company will broadcast the competitions, as well as produce special programs.
The RBC TV channel became a General Partner of the Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 in Sochi in the category "Advertising and Promoting the Paralympic Games." General director Alexander Lyubimov signed the corresponding agreement on behalf of the company. Under the agreement, the television channel will provide media coverage of the preparations for the Paralympic Winter Games by broadcasting diaries of the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Torch Relay in addition to providing large-scale support of the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games Ticketing Program.
In the run-up to the Paralympic Winter Games, RBC TV channel will produce and broadcast 10 editions of diaries of the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Torch Relay, each lasting 10 minutes. The diaries will include news of the day, information on the city the torch has visited, interviews with torchbearers, spectators, honored guests, as well as footage of locations along the relay route and stories fr om the life of the torchbearers.
RBC will also support the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games Ticketing Program by producing and broadcasting eight commercials of varying lengths (30 to 90 seconds) dedicated to the program. In addition, for the Paralympic Winter Games, RBC is planning a series of 10 programs devoted to the story of the Russian Paralympic team's training for the competitions, the Paralympic Movement in Russia and the world, Paralympic athletes, as well as their fortunes and careers.
Panorama General Director Vasily Kiknadze said: "The Paralympic Games showcase the highest achievements of the human spirit. General Director of RBC TV channel Alexander Lyubimov commented:
"Russian Paralympians show extraordinary strength of spirit and commitment to athletic achievements. Our channel will launch a special two-week project dedicated to them. One of its main goals is to attract the viewers' attention to the millions of our fellow citizens with disabilities. And next year, everyone who sees the celebration of Paralympic sport on RBC will certainly be moved by this spectacular and historic event for Russia."
The president of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Dmitry Chernyshenko, noted:

Their financial contributions, the latest technologies and developments, and most importantly, the personal involvement of managers and ordinary employees, are integral components of the success of the 2014 Games. Since the program began in 2009, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee has attracted financial investment of 1.3 billion dollars, more than 3 times the obligations of the Bid Book. And this is 1.5 times more than the Vancouver Organizing Committee earned for the Games during its whole existence. Thus, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee has become the most successful Winter Games Organizing Committee in the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement.
"The right to the use the Russian Olympic and Paralympic marks can only be obtained by the exclusive TOP Partners of the IOC and the IPC, the Sochi 2014 National Partners at all levels, as well as companies that have entered into the appropriate license agreement with the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee." IOC TOP Partners are companies that have entered into an agreement with the IOC for several four-year cycles.
