The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee sees its objective in the maximum use of opportunities, created by the Olympic project, to ensure the long term sustainable development and prosperity of the city of Sochi, the Krasnodar region and all of Russia.
Economic prosperity through the implementation of the Olympic project is considered to be:
- Helping stable economic development;
- Developing the jobs market;
- Helping the development of the city of Sochi as both a mountain climate resort and a sports center at an international level.
In order to achieve the tasks set in the context of preparation and staging of the Games, the following tasks should be completed, such as:
- Ensuring the predominant use of local and regional labor resources, materials, components and equipment;
- Implementing the Games' asset management program taking into account the creation of additional social and economic opportunities at local and regional levels;
- The creation of new jobs;
- The training and development of local labor resources;
- The construction of modern sports venues and ensuring their long term use.
- The development of modern infrastructure (engineering, transport, social) and service areas to increase the quality of life and hospitality in the city of Soch
During the preparation for the Games, Sochi and Southern Russia as a whole, will gain modern roads and railways, new transport hubs, a modernized engineering infrastructure, modern hotels, a landscaped waterfront, an increase in energy capacity, hundreds of kilometers of gas pipes, new purification facilities, as well as telecommunications, digital television and fibre optic communication. Up to now, the Olympic Project has already created and supported 239 thousand new jobs.
Infrastructure and other venues, which are being created in Sochi during the preparation for the Games, will become the most important Olympic legacy not only for the city and the Krasnodar region, but for Russia as a whole.
